Mini iPods have displays that are about as readable as you can get. The iPod is miniature, hence its name, but not so small that it’s fiddly. Apple are rightly proud of this model. It is well designed with controls that function perfectly without wiggle or stickiness.
This is a device that has intelligent features. try plugging in the earphones, and logically, the iPod switches on (why else would you want the mini’s earphones plugged in?). The only question we can think of is: why can’t other manufacturers make their products this good?
Downloads to the Mini iPods is via USB 2.0. This is satisfyingly fast and efficient. But owners of Minis will as usual be disappointed by iTunes. As a music manager it is a little bit slow. At least, it is compared to other managers. And it doesn’t have to be either. Maybe it’s time Apple had it revamped.
The click wheel on MIni iPods integrates the scroll wheel with the four buttons. This is an advance in design as it’s much easier to use than those of the earlier models. This is a premium machine.
