No TagsTubeTV is a great little program. It has a great little price too - it’s free! It’s one of those helper programs that you need, and that someone could see that you (and everyone else) needed.

If you’re still not satisfied with all the video content your iPod or your iPhone is packing, then you might want to take a look at the freeware program TubeTV. This nifty application allows you to basically search for, save, and convert YouTube’s .flv videos to a suitable format for the Apple TV, iPhone, and iPod.
Aha! I hear you say. Apple has all that stuff built in to the iPod Touch and the iPhone, not to mention that it’s part of Apple TV! Yes, more or less, but TubeTV goes a little bit further. It gives you access to the entire YouTube library. That’s not the case with the built in stuff. The article tells you this:
While Apple TV and iPhone already have YouTube support, TubeTV goes the extra mile by allowing you to save your favorite videos and add them permanently to your library. The built in search bar and web browser also allows easy access to any videos you want to look for on the Net.
See! I told you… It’s quite simply what the YouTube support “should” have been in the first place! Why produce a great device, then limit it by not going the full hog with what it can do? Beats me!
TubeTV can also easily convert any YouTube video you’ve downloaded into high quality videos using the H.264 codec for either QuickTime or its Perian plug-ins.
Now, that’s worth the price alone. Oh, I forgot - it’s free… But nevertheless, this feature is great. Not only do you get the YouTube video, but you can convert it into an even better video! I like their thinking.
Another good thing about the application is that it doesn’t need an installer; just copy it to your Applications folder and launch it. It does, however, require the Perian plug-in if you want to convert your videos into a higher quality media format.
Programs that don’t need all that installing fuss are great. Just click and go. That’s how it should be too. Seems to me, whatever way you look at it, this is a program you can’t afford to miss (but you can afford it - it’s free).
